Oelwein Middle School

Welcome Back

The 2018-19 school year at the Oelwein Middle School is quickly approaching and I am thrilled. This will be my 28th year in education, and I have enjoyed every year. With the changes to the building, and the addition of fifth grade, this year will be extra special. For the past few months, staff members and administration have been working with contractors to prepare the school for the transition to a 5th – 8th-grade building. I am looking forward to getting to know the students better and seeing all the exciting learning taking place in our classrooms.

Our mission is; "Whatever it takes to educate all students" This mission becomes reality through the teamwork of parents, community members, and staff working together to make a difference for our children. Every decision we make is based on what is best for our students. We are here to help our students meet our high academic expectations while preparing them to become career and college ready.

Over the summer we have welcomed several new staff members including; three special education teachers, a music teacher, an art teacher. Additionally, we are working on transitioning the fifth-grade team and an additional math teacher to our middle school team.

As a working parent, I know how precious time can be. I realize how important the school experience is for each child. Every day our goal is to provide opportunities for every student’s unique learning needs. Communication is key to providing a successful experience for your child. Please stay in touch with our team and attend school events when possible. Feel free to contact me to discuss your student’s progress. Working together we will help our children reach their fullest potential.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you on August 21st from 6pm-8pm, for the Oelwein Middle School Open House!
