Driver’s Education

Please provide the above information and turn it in to Central office before September 17^th, 2026 at noon along with the $375.00 driver’s education fee and a copy of your permit.

Driver’s Education is accepting registrations for the upcoming First Semester 2026-27 session.  The session will begin September 24th, 2026. Students may finish earlier than the deadline if classroom assignments are done and driving time is fulfilled.

Students enrolled in Driver’s Education class should be aware that class and driving must be a priority.  Students will make the Driver's Ed teacher aware of possible conflicts during the first class so the teacher can create a driving schedule to accommodate everyone.  The teacher works very hard to schedule all of the students who have registered to take this class and the session is very difficult to adjust once it is set.  Please be aware that unexcused absences from class or scheduled drive times may result in failing the class with no refund of money.

Total cost for the class is $375.00 and must accompany this form when it is turned into Central office. Checks can be made out to Oelwein Community Schools.  The entire fee must be paid when registering for the class.  Registration for Driver’s Education class is on a first come, first served basis.  The deadline for accepting registrations will be September 17, 2026 @ noon.

Students must have obtained their instruction permit before the start of class. Students DO NOT have to have their permit for 6 months in order to take the class. A copy of your permit must be returned with this form.

Obviously, students who have driven with their parents and are aware of basic driving skills will get more from the course than those who have little or no driving experience.  Students are required to have a minimum of 20 hours of driving experience with their parents before they can get their provisional license at age 16. This is in addition to the state required six hours of driving that they will receive in the Driver's Ed class.
