Little Husky Learning Center

Welcome to the Little Husky Learning Center!

Little Husky Learning Center is a Preschool through Kindergarten center located on the south side of the Oelwein High School, on 8th Ave SE. The Center also operates as a year-round child care center and offers before or after school child care programs for children, ages 2 weeks through 12 years old. With capacity for 140 children, the learning center maintains small classroom sizes to encourage child learning and participation.

Little Husky Learning Center uses Creative Curriculum where children learn through play and hands-on experiences. Children investigate their surroundings to address the different areas of development such as, social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language. The staff at Little Husky Learning Center offer children a variety of engaging activities to build reading and math potential and continue to do whatever it takes to educate all students.

From the Principal:

Welcome to Oelwein Elementary!

At both Little Husky Learning Center and Wings Park Elementary, we live out our vision of being Happy, Healthy, and Awesome each day. Our staff is committed to doing Whatever It Takes to educate every child, and we are grateful to partner with you in that important journey.

In Oelwein, we focus on strong core instruction while also nurturing the whole child through play, music, art, and social-emotional learning. Our goal is to prepare students at every level for success both inside and outside of the classroom.

As I begin my first year as principal at the Little Husky Learning Center, I am excited to build relationships, support our dedicated staff, and celebrate the many great things happening in our schools. Together, we will continue to make Oelwein Elementary a place where students thrive.

With Husky Pride,
Haley Frese

Teacher Request Form:

Dear Families,

As partners in your child’s education, your voice is important to us. As we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year, we invite you to share your input regarding your child’s classroom placement.

Please note that while we carefully consider all feedback, our team thoughtfully develops class lists to ensure balanced classrooms. This includes maintaining equitable class sizes and a range of student learning needs in each classroom to best support all learners. Additionally, we want to be transparent about the fact that staffing assignments may change between now and the start of the school year.

We are proud of our dedicated teaching staff and are confident that all of our teachers provide high-quality instruction, care, and support for students. Our goal is to place each child in a classroom where they will thrive, knowing that every teacher is committed to student success.

We are committed to having a strong partnership with all families and ensuring that every student has access to a positive and supportive learning environment. We truly value your input and appreciate your collaboration in this process.
