Welcome to the Oelwein Community School District
“Happy, Healthy, and Awesome” are the driving forces beyond all that we do in the Oelwein Community School District as we do whatever it takes to educate ALL students.
The Oelwein Community School District is located in corridor to the bluffs of Northeast Iowa. Iowa Highways 3 and 150 traverse the District with the Waterloo/Cedar Falls metropolitan area within an easy 45-minute drive and Cedar Rapids directly south 60-minutes.
We are a K-12 School District that serves 1200 students. Those students are educated in our Little Husky Learning Center (Kindergarten), Wings Park Elementary (1st-4th), Middle School (5th - 8th), and our High School (9th - 12). In addition we partner closely with Northeast Iowa Community College to run two centers in Oelwein; the Regional Academy for Math and Science (RAMS) and the Regional Tech Complex (RTC). This partnership allows our High School students access to over 30 college credit courses and technical training in nursing, advanced manufacturing, engineering, and construction.
Our quality of life includes a wide range of recreational facilities and activities. Cold spring-fed trout streams offer excellent fishing. Fontana Park and Nature Preserve as well as Backbone State Park and Volga River Recreation Area provide excellent outdoor activities. Walking trails, swimming pool, tennis courts, 9-hole golf course, frisbee golf course, a movie theater with two screens, a bowling alley, two museums, a new public library, the Williams Center for the Arts, and the Williams Wellness Center, provide relaxation and fun for all ages.
