The Virtual Place Where Friends Meet ~ Virtual Husky Camp is a learning experience designed to keep students in grades 5-12 engaged, curious, safe and having fun—available whenever they want to connect. All 5-12th Oelwein students are invited to join in these free sessions. Virtual Husky Camps are made available through 21st Century Grant and Husky Adventures/Husky Inc, Barb Schmitz, Director.

Virtual camps are available as Anytime Camps,  Zoom Meets and Learning Labs.

Anytime Camps are virtual classrooms with guiding links and activities for students to visit on their own. Camp themes will change periodically. Some of the current room themes include virtual field trips, fantasy, designer, and self care. These are great camps to visit when brain breaks are needed, a virtual escape or just that time when you are looking for something to do.

Zoom meets are scheduled camps that meet at certain times throughout the week. Students interact with peers and a camp teacher while learning about the camp theme. Current themes include Mindful Movement, Magic Tricks, Friendship Groups, Coloring and Chatting, Comic Creations, Transformers and Legos, Seasonal Crafts and more. These themes have been suggested by students and teachers and more will be added throughout the year.

Learning Labs are another Virtual Husky Camp opportunity for students this year. Online tutoring in math, science, English, social studies and health is available to help with homework and skills. Tutoring times need to be scheduled in advance, so contact Mrs. Duff, Camp Director, to sign up.

Virtual Husky Camp information has been shared with 5th -12th grade students via email and posters. Camps start in October and will continue throughout the school year. Come to the place where friends meet!
